The Elders of St. John’s meet monthly. We are concerned with the spiritual well being of the Members of St. John’s and well being of our Pastor as he shepards us in God’s Word.

What is an elder and what should the congregation expect of its elders? The elders are expected to assist the Pastor(s) in matters pertaining to the spiritual welfare of the congregation, public worship and Christian discipline and restoration. Elders are not assistant pastors and are not elected to perform the duties of the Office of the Public Ministry. The elders are to serve all members of the congregation including professional staff and lay leadership. In order to perform such service they must concern themselves with the spiritual growth and well being of the members through prayer and individual contacts.
The elders are responsible to see that worship services are carried out regularly and in an orderly manner. They are charged with maintaining accurate membership roles and attendance records for worship and participation in the Lord’s Supper.
Elders assist the Pastor and staff in visitation of members including the hospitalized, shut-in and institutionalized. They are to encourage fellowship among all members of the congregation by their own example and individual caring. (James 5:13-16).
Another duty of the elders is to exercise Christian discipline among the members. The purpose of discipline is to bring the lost back to a right relationship with their Lord and the church. When a person’s behavior puts them in spiritual jeopardy, the elders are required to make every attempt at restoration (Matthew 18:15-17).
Elders at Pinnacle are elected to a 3-year term by the Voters Assembly. Elder candidates should be worthy of the respect of the congregation and community. They are to model the life of their Lord and Savior, Jesus. Their purpose is not to gain recognition for themselves but to unselfishly serve Christ and His church.
